Being a business owner takes a lot of persistence. Things rarely happen the way I hope they would. Which is part of the fun, but also part of the struggle. One of the challenges I’ve faced as a business owner is not getting too discouraged by setbacks. If you know what I’m talking about, then here’s your reminder to keep at it.
The belief that success is possible is fundamental in achieving that success. The biggest difference between those who are successful and those who are not is persistence: those who continue to show up and refuse to take setbacks as a sign of their incompetence but rather as an opportunity to evolve, think differently, and innovate creative solutions.
I talk a lot about challenges and failure because it’s literally impossible to pursue something…ANYTHING…without having both. I talk about it not only as a reminder for you but as a reminder for myself. The past two weeks have been discouraging for me in various ways, and my Dad really spoke some wisdom to me. He’s been an entrepreneur for over 30 years and has had his share of rejection, investments that don’t work out, challenges, and failures. But his encouragement was to continue showing up. Continue to go at it. Dogged pursuit. If this is something you believe in, don’t give up – adapt.
